When I was coming up with the concept for my Sprinter van conversion, I knew I wanted not just an adventure mobile to haul my gear, but a comfortable place to live and work. With this in mind, I had a few priorities when I was designing the van: I wanted the van to feel open and airy maintaining the walkway to the back door. In this blog post, I give the full Sprinter Van tour and share all of the details of my Sprinter Van conversion with you.
I opted for the high roof, Cargo style van and added sliding door and back door windows. When I was coming up with the concept for the layout, there were a few different options for the bed. The first option was a dinette. This would maintain the walkway and give me a place to work, but it would be near impossible to have a bathroom. Plus sleeping vertically meant that the entire back half of the van would be devoted to the bed. The next option was a platform bed, where the bed is built on a large platform with a bunch of storage underneath.
This option would provide the most storage space but would again eliminate the option for a bathroom. This would maintain the walkway and the open feel of the van, giving me space for a bathroom and galley along the back wall, and I could enjoy the views as I sat and worked on my blog inside the van. With the couch and the passenger swivel seat, my van can comfortably seat people.

Upper and Lower River campgrounds were closed permanently after the flood. Whether these lost campgrounds will ever be replaced is still up in the air. The numbers originate back to the s when Yosemite Valley was administered by the State of California. Camps 1 – 5 were established by the state and abandonded as they had no sanitation facilities and were also polluted from raw sewage upstream from the Sentinel Hotel.
Camps 6 – 20 were established by the U.

Are you sure you want to delete this answer? Yes Sorry, something has gone wrong. Yes, Yosemite is a congested nightmare. Personally, I would do Sequoia with the 6 year old, and Yosemite when he’s a bit older. Yosemite has waterfalls, though, and Sequoia not so much. I didn’t think Sequoia was that difficult to get reservations for, but they don’t have much in the way of “full hookup” RV sites.
More just sites that will fit RVs. Nice thing about the Sequoia area is that there are multiple campgrounds all around the area

It’s also about a minute drive outside the park entrance, and I didn’t see any RV camping on that was closer, so if you’re coming or going on that route it’s very convenient. One major complaint I have about this campground, though, is the showers. There’s a single shower unit in each of the men’s and women’s bathrooms, and two additional units on the other end of the bathroom building. These are the ones you want to use. You do NOT want to use the makeshift outside shower units behind the bathroom building.
All you get are three walls, a door, two hooks, the shower head and controls, and a concrete floor. There isn’t even a drain in the floor – the water runs out a small gap between the wall and the floor. And if you’re showering in the evening, make sure that you’re done before the sun goes down because there is no illumination provided other than the sun. I have attached some photos of this shower area so you can see how bad it is. If you have an RV, just take your shower in your unit.
